Con conoscenza e riconoscimento cinematografico reciproco
La 19a edizione del Festival Internazionale del Cinema d’Oriente (FIFOG) si svolgerà dal 10 al 16 giugno 2024 a Ginevra. Dopo aver celebrato La Résistance nel 2020 e L’Espoir nel 2021,
La Liberté au Female nel 2022 e Le Rêve nel 2023, la nuova collezione mette in risalto la conoscenza e il riconoscimento reciproco. FIFOG 2024 vuole quindi promuovere le opere cinematografiche invitando tutti a conoscere e riconoscere se stessi e gli altri, che sono le condizioni fondamentali per vivere insieme.
Sotto gli auspici della Commissione svizzera per l’UNESCO, questa nuova edizione è diretta dalla scrittrice libanese Joumana Haddad, la cui penna continua a invocare il riavvicinamento tra Oriente e Occidente, affermando reciprocità e uguaglianza.
Per una settimana Ginevra e le sue città si riempiranno di colori orientali. Verranno proiettati più di cinquanta film, accompagnati da una trentina di ospiti provenienti dall’Est e dall’Ovest, per deliziare il pubblico del festival.
Nella sezione panoramica, il festival rivela, attraverso performance speciali, ricche opere strettamente legate al tema del festival, che rappresentano, in tutti i loro aspetti, il potere dell’emozione e della poesia. Pertanto, la resistenza delle donne afghane, la lotta dei tibetani per la propria esistenza, la resistenza dei libanesi e la resilienza specifica del Nord Africa emergono come temi principali in questa nuova edizione.
Il festival è anche l’occasione per premiare i film. Due giurie, il Comitato del Concorso Internazionale dei Lungometraggi e il Comitato del Concorso Internazionale dei Cortometraggi, assegneranno il Premio FIFOG Oro e il Premio FIFOG Argento. La Giuria della Scuola e la Giuria dei Giovani premieranno i migliori due cortometraggi presentati in programma. Questa edizione è anche l’occasione per presentare il lavoro degli artisti ginevrini.
Domani, mercoledì 22 maggio 2024, alle 13:30, si terrà una conferenza stampa per la partecipazione del festival, in presenza o online, alla presenza di Diane Heaney, Vice Presidente della FIFOG, Taher Hoshi , Direttore Tecnico della FIFOG, e Bahishta Notani, Presidente dell’Associazione Ora (Associazione per i Diritti delle Donne Afghane). René Longuet, presidente dell’Associazione svizzero-tibetana per l’amicizia, e Rahman Kalilur, programmatore del Bangladesh 🇧🇩

With knowledge and mutual cinematic recognition
The 19th edition of the International Film Festival of Oriental Geneva (FIFOG) will take place from 10 to 16 June 2024 in Geneva. After celebrating La Résistance in 2020, and L’Espoir in 2021,
La Liberté au Female in 2022, and Le Rêve in 2023, the new collection highlights knowledge and mutual recognition. FIFOG 2024 therefore wants to promote cinematic works by inviting everyone to know and recognize themselves and others, which are the basic conditions for living together.
Under the auspices of the Swiss Commission for UNESCO, this new edition is headed by the Lebanese writer Joumana Haddad, whose pen continues to call for rapprochement between East and West, in stating reciprocity and equality.
For a week, Geneva and its cities will be filled with oriental colors. More than fifty films will be shown, accompanied by about thirty guests from the East and West, to delight festival-goers.
In the panorama section, the festival reveals, through special performances, rich works closely related to the festival’s theme, representing, in all their aspects, the power of emotion and poetry. Thus, the resistance of Afghan women, the struggle of Tibetans for their existence, the resistance of the Lebanese, and the specific resilience of North Africa emerge as major themes in this new edition.
The festival is also an opportunity to reward films. Two juries, the International Feature Film Competition Committee and the International Short Film Competition Committee, will award the FIFOG Gold Prize and the FIFOG Silver Prize. The School Jury and Youth Jury will reward the best two short films presented in the programme. This edition is also an opportunity to showcase the work of Geneva artists.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 1:30 pm, a press conference will be held for the festival to participate, whether face-to-face or online, in the presence of Diane Heaney, Vice President of FIFOG, Taher Hoshi, Technical Director of FIFOG, and Bahishta Notani, President of the Ora Association (Afghan Women’s Rights Association). René Longuet, President of the Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Association, and Rahman Kalilur, a programmer from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
